My vision

TANQUA Design Your Life is a community of people who are on a mission to become more of who they are, or could be, knowing that there are infinite possibilities for living a full, active, loving celebration of life. The most important thing is how you feel.

 

When you look around at the world of fitness... What do you see? It’s a mixed bag, with many conflicted messages. There is a lot of information – having access to that is amazing and exciting, even if a bit overwhelming.

Whatever you experience in your emotional life and whatever you believe about yourself, has a lot to do with the type of exercise you choose and how you train.

 

Just the smell of my boxing gloves or gym bag evokes so many memories and feelings for me. Moments that I am proud of because I know the transformation that took place. I am a much better version of myself now.

 

Our mind is incredibly powerful. Our perceptions and thoughts shape our reality, often in ways we aren’t consciously aware of. That’s why input, like nutrition, has to be of a high quality. Emotion is much easier to change than a belief and beliefs shape our reality.

 

The understanding of your body and the knowledge of yourself that training gives you, helps you through other challenges in life. We are meant to move our bodies and improve who we are, just as we are meant to face challenges and move through them. Movement helps process the thoughts. Staying stuck is not an option.

Yes, a fashion icon quote! I know that this quote embodies his brand and product, however I believe it!! Let’s change it... It's not just how you train or how you look, but how you live, and what you surround yourself with. That’s it isn’t it? We are more more than macros, body fat percentage and how much we can lift.

Perhaps the biggest influence on my fitness and nutrition journey came with the birth of my son. Etienne’s different abilities began at birth – born 8 weeks premature with underdeveloped lungs along with a million other complications. This prematurity meant frequent hospitalisations, which only increased as it became evident that he was not reaching appropriate milestones. Then the diagnoses began, speech disability, PDD, Global developmental delay, Autism and finally moderate intellectual disability. I was told...

 

“HE WILL NEVER READ, WRITE, NEVER HAVE A JOB OR BE ABLE TO LIVE LIFE UNASSISTED.”

 

After a huge amount of research, I decided that a natural healing process through food was the best course of action to help Etienne’s body begin to recover from the massive amounts of medication he required in his first 18 months of life in order to stay alive. My hope was his brain would heal as well – his entire system was inflamed. As he developed his nutrition requirements changed.

 

Many of us continue with what we are used to in terms of nutritional input, when you become more aware of how you feel in your body and how it functions, you see that you must adjust the fuel that you use as your body changes. Whatever we choose to put into our bodies and our minds has an enormous effect on how we develop. link to TANQUA food

 

Choose what brings you joy, and follow your passion. Remember, it’s your life, you decide, stand strong in your choices. Know that you are not alone, find your tribe (like-minded individuals).
